el deporte local
Philadelphia is the most demanding sports city in America and takes a certain pride in the reputation. Support here is unconditional in attendance and utterly conditional in tone — the same crowd will sell out the building and boo it.

El panorama
The Eagles are the emotional centre; a Sunday in autumn reorganises the whole city around them. The Phillies play in a park that gets genuinely hostile in October. The Flyers built their identity in the seventies on intimidation and have traded on it since, and the 76ers carry Iverson, Barkley and a decade of deliberate rebuilding. Big Five college basketball — Villanova, Temple, La Salle, Penn, Saint Joseph's — gives the city a winter tradition few American cities can match.
Rivalidades que importan
Eagles–Cowboys is the fixture that matters most, and it is genuine dislike rather than manufactured. Phillies–Mets has sharpened considerably. Within the city, the Big Five round-robin at the Palestra is older and more intimate than anything in the pro game.
Dónde verlo
South Philadelphia around the stadium complex on a game day, and the corner taps in Fishtown and Manayunk the rest of the time. The Palestra on a Big Five night is one of the best rooms in American sport.
