The scene
The Spurs won five titles between 1999 and 2014 with essentially one coach and a rotating cast around Tim Duncan, and became the model other franchises pointed at for continuity. In January 2023 they played a fiftieth-anniversary game at the Alamodome in front of 68,323 people, the largest crowd in NBA history. UTSA football also plays in the Alamodome, and the Alamo Bowl fills it each December.
Rivalries that matter
Spurs against Dallas and Houston are the in-state games; the playoff series against Phoenix and the Lakers through the 2000s were the ones that mattered most.
Where to watch
The River Walk and the Pearl before games; the arena is on the east side and its lots open early.
