the local sports scene
Milwaukee's ballpark has a sausage race and a man who slides into a beer mug, and both are older than most of the people in the stands.
The local sports scene
The scene
American Family Field has a fan-shaped retractable roof, a mascot who slides down a chute after home runs, and a fifth-inning race between five costumed sausages that began as a scoreboard animation in the 1990s. The Bucks won the NBA title in 2021, and the plaza outside Fiserv Forum — the Deer District — held tens of thousands of people watching on screens outside the building.
Rivalries that matter
Brewers against the Cubs fills the ballpark with visiting fans from ninety miles south and is the loudest series of the year. Marquette's Big East games against Villanova and Creighton draw the biggest college crowds.
Where to watch
The Fiserv Forum plaza on game nights; the Third Ward and Water Street afterwards; the ballpark lots open hours early.
